Icera has more than 550 patents granted or pending worldwide, and its high speed wireless-modem products have been approved by more than 50 carriers across the globe. Microsoft Corp and Skype Global S.à r.l have announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Microsoft will acquire Skype, a global Internet communications company, for US$8.5 billion in cash from the investor group led by Silver Lake.
