Smartworld gets a new CEO

Smartworld, a leading master systems integrator and next generation ICT service provider in the Middle East, has named Mohamed Fouz as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective August 01, 2013.

The appointment of Fouz, who is recognized as a leading icon in the Middle East’s IT industry, is expected to further consolidate Smartworld’s efforts to position itself as the region’s premier systems integrator and ICT service provider.

Fouz has had a distinguished career spanning over three decades of international and multi-regional experience and association in IT and business. With key skills and experience across various facets of the IT Industry, Fouz is a strong leader with a passion for technology and thorough understanding of the business.

His track record of strategic leadership, planning and implementation along with his focused approach to problem solving has earned him the respect of employees and partners.  He also understands the value of a network and the importance of creating lifelong consumer relationships.

Prior to Smartworld, the positions he has held include being Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Mashreq Bank, a leading financial institution in the UAE, Chief Executive officer of Mindscape an IT spinoff of Mashreqbank IT and also as CEO for eHosting DataFort (eHDF), the region’s managed IT service provider and a member of TECOM Investments.

As CEO of eHDF, Fouz helped enhance the business with the creation of a governance model to manage the consolidation of services, which resulted in three ISO certifications – ISO9001, ISO 20000 and ISO 27001, all within one year.

In recognition of the innovations he has introduced in the banking sector, Fouz was named as one of the top 10 IT executives in the region. He was also awarded the ACN Service Provider Award for the Middle East Region for eHDF in 2008.
