SecureData to distribute AirTight in sub-Saharan Africa

Leading IT security distributor in Africa, SecureData Africa announced that it has been appointed as the distributor for AirTight Networks in the sub-Saharan African region.

AirTight SpectraGuard Enterprise provides continuous, automated protection against all current and emerging wireless threats, which can jeopardise sensitive data as well as affecting performance, critical applications and end-user satisfaction. Unauthorised access points (APs) connected to the enterprise wired or wireless network are considered rogue APs. Rogue APs are a serious threat as they allow unauthorised wireless access to private networks. Rogue APs can appear on the enterprise network either by naïve acts of employees, eg using smartphones or tablets, or by malicious attacks by cyber criminals or insiders. With AirTight, we can enable enterprises to protect both wired and wireless networks and mobile clients from wireless vulnerabilities.

“As wireless networking (WiFi) becomes a business utility, the challenge of maximising its efficiencies while minimising the vulnerabilities and risk of intrusion becomes increasingly complex. We now have the ability to deliver around-the-clock threat monitoring and automatic intrusion prevention that manages wireless network security and performance to ensure maximum capacity and uptime. With continuous scanning of the airwaves, our customers are automatically protected against data leakage through the wireless network. Within minutes, administrators can proactively detect, classify, block and eliminate threats with the industry’s most accurate and robust automated wireless intrusion prevention (WIPS) system,” said Wayne Olsen, Product and Technology Director at SecureData Africa.

“Unauthorised wireless access points on the wired network are one of the biggest problems facing all organisations today. The millions of dollars spent securing the wire is bypassed the instant a rogue access point enters the network. AirTight needed a strong partner in this region who understands the challenges posed by the proliferation of WiFi and WiFi-enabled devices entering the enterprise and who has both the technical and sales ability to take our solutions to market. With SecureData’s proven security background, they were a logical choice when we decided to enter the African market,” said Johan van Der Welle, Managing Director for AirTight Networks EMEA.
