According to final data released by IDC, Acer is the no. 4 PC vendor worldwide in 1H 2017 with over 7 percent market share. This latest data confirms Acer has been able to sustain its momentum, and that its focus on offering a competitive product portfolio in growing PC segments, and product mix strategy for different market needs has been effective.
In a July 12 press release announcing the preliminary data, IDC touched upon the overall outlook of the PC market with a view that it is continuing to stabilize. The press release quoted IDC researchers as saying, “Amid some unevenness in market trends across the regions, the global PC market has continued to trend toward stabilization,” and “Consumer demand will remain under pressure, although growth in areas like PC gaming and the increasingly attractive portfolio of sleek Windows-based systems will help push the consumer market to stabilize as well.”
