Recently, world’s leading IT distributor Avnet reported impressive numbers $6.43 billion worldwide sales for the first quarter results of the fiscal year 2012, which is an increase of 3.9% year over year. Avnet Technology Solutions experienced solid year over year improvements in profitability and returns during the quarter. Gross profit margin improved 75 basis points sequentially and 37 basis points year over year. In addition, operating income increasing 14.7% year over year, and operating income margin increasing 28 basis points year over year to 2.5%.

Lenovo Group announced results for its fourth fiscal quarter and full year ended March 31, 2011. Lenovo was the fastest growing of the top five PC manufacturers for the sixth quarter in a row, and for the eighth quarter in a row outgrew the worldwide PC market as a whole. Lenovo’s continued focus on executing its “protect and attack” strategy across all geographies, customer segments and product lines, resulted in balanced growth throughout the year, leading to a record year-ending double digit market share of 10.2 percent.

Avnet, Inc. recorded a revenue of $6.8 billion in the 2nd quarter of fiscal year 2011, an 40% year over year increase in its turnover. Whereas, the value added distribution arm, Avnet Technology Solutions’ revenue grew to $3.21 billion across the globe, which was mostly driven by hardware refresh investments, including spending on industry standard servers, storage and networking products.Read More…
