Channel Post speaks with Manisha G, Marketing & Communications Manager, Finesse about making her journey as a marketing professional through creativity, effective communication and advanced marketing skills.
Tell us about your leadership style and philosophy.
I believe in the ‘Live and Let Live’ philosophy. The best outcomes arise when the team works together pitching ideas and solving challenges together. With an open line of communication, transparency, freedom of thought and voice across hierarchy within boundaries of overall organizational framework; I feel any team will not only achieve but surpass goals and aim for transformation. I believe in creating an environment where everyone contributes to the best of their abilities and then the work gets done smoothly and effectively. We need to concentrate on doing our best and enjoy what we do, plan properly, take it one step at a time and be flexible to accommodate changes and meet challenges as they come. Having said all that, it is very important to enjoy your work and have a little fun while doing it.
What made you choose IT as a career opportunity?
What better place to be if not in the IT industry in today’s time? Today we cannot escape technology even if we want to. I want to be where the transformation is happening, I want to contribute to the creation of ease for mankind, and I want to be a part of everyone’s lives. IT gives me that.
Never having been a student of science or technology, today I am using my skills of being a story teller for this industry. It is fascinating, challenging, a means to learn at each step (what with technology changing and growing on a daily basis) and has immense potential for growth.
How has your unique background prepared you for success in the industry?
I am a people’s person. I can weave stories. My work so far has taught me to gauge what people want to hear and I have learnt how to make that message simple and effective. I am thirsty to learn new things and to experiment. Being in technology, one needs to be able to talk in a language which is a combination of technical, layman (non-jargon) and story-telling. I think I am blessed that I can do all that and these have helped me contribute to my role in marketing technology.
Of course education, experience, exposure and thirst for knowledge helps in being prepared for success.
What was your most interesting job and what activities does your role encompass?
I love marketing and all my work has been interesting. Being in marketing allows me to be creative, work with teams and people, collaborate, and come up with new ways of doing work. I have over the past few years effectively spearheaded the integrated marketing campaigns and brand messaging for improved brand development and positioning, making my company’s brand a more recognizable one. I have strengthened the company’s market perception by formulating marketing and corporate communication – external and internal, media exposure, website content, blogs, digital and social media marketing and events. I work in collaboration with partners and client alike to drive the company vision. I manage strategic partner relationship, alliances and communications to position my company and partner vision in the market.
My role involves having a strategy for the approach required to meet the key objectives – planning through execution followed by measuring and evaluation. It is about deciding on the target market and the channels of marketing required (the optimal marketing mix), resources optimization, and effective execution that helps us achieve the desired results of the marketing campaigns.
What advice would you give to women looking to break into the field of computer technology?

What is the greatest transformation in technology you’ve witnessed in your career?
That would be the use of AI & Analytics to deliver more ease and flexibility. It’s amazing to see how predictive analysis and AI is changing how we use technology and is impacting our lives on a daily basis.
As a marketer, it has changed the way we reach people. The reach today is massive, targeted, relevant, contextual and at the touch of a button. Reaching to our target audience is at our finger tips, literally.
Are you involved in any sort of volunteer work? Can you give us some details?
I am involved with children’s and women’s up-liftment programs. Our company’s CSR also gives me enough opportunities to work with society at various levels. I aspire to work on my quest for giving back to society.
What’s next for you in terms of your career in the tech industry?
Constantly look out for more challenges, opportunities to learn and grow, stay connected and updated with trends. This is apart from striving to deliver my best at what I do best.
