Pyramid Research, the market research reports has estimated the revenue of Botswana’s telecom market at $337m.
The research focused on the introduction of 4G and implementation of a broadband strategy by the government.
The report found that Botswana’s overall telecoms market declined by 7.2% in 2014 US dollar terms from the previous year.
The research expects to see overall service revenue grow at a 3.5% from 2014 to 2019.
The fixed/mobile revenue split, already heavily weighted toward mobile, will shift even further toward mobile, Pyramid Research said.
The reported noted that the adoption of 3G technologies is at 35.1% of the mobile subscription base.
The company covered by the research included Mascom (MTN Group), Orange Botswana, and Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC).
