For Sofia Ktena, Business Unit Manager at Mindware, technology became a passion from tinkering in her father’s workshop. Nandini Sapru, VP of Sales at emt, recalls her journey beginning with coding during her student years, eventually transitioning into cybersecurity. Nandini believes foundational knowledge in technology opens multiple doors, enabling young women to grow and explore various professional paths.
Heeba Siddiqa, Marketing Specialist at VAD Technologies, merges a love for innovation and entrepreneurship. “My studies in innovation helped me understand how profoundly technology influences business transformation,” she says. Her unique entry into technology demonstrates that interdisciplinary skills and creativity can be powerful catalysts for success.

Cryzanne Gomes, Marketing Specialist at Ariston Middle East, found technology aligned deeply with her commitment to sustainability. “Witnessing technology’s role in building sustainable and energy-efficient solutions inspired me immensely,” she shares. Cryzanne’s journey highlights the pivotal role personal values like sustainability play in motivating lasting careers in tech.
Burcu Cansever Ezer, Channel Account Manager, Infoblox said “My journey into technology began in sales and marketing within the cybersecurity sector. The dynamic environment, problem-solving challenges, and continuous learning opportunities captivated me, driving my growth in the field. Despite the initial challenge of limited female representation in leadership roles, I found that supportive teams and a strong network of mentors and peers were invaluable.”

Dr. Zulekha Ahmed, Operations Manager at SAMENA Council, entered technology unexpectedly during her tenure in operations. “My initial exposure to technology’s profound impact on business operations led me to appreciate tech as a career,” she explains, emphasizing that rewarding technology paths may begin even from unexpected roles.
Shaista Ahmed, Director – Channel Sales & Ecosystem at Nutanix, describes her initial attraction to technology as an impulse to embrace new challenges. She advises young women to approach technology careers with confidence and resilience, encouraging them to see challenges as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles.

Laura Padilla, Senior VP of Channels and Alliances at Freshworks, was driven into technology by her passion for tangible innovation and entrepreneurship. She notes, “I realized technology offered the excitement of building solutions from the ground up.” Laura’s career exemplifies how entrepreneurial spirit aligns perfectly with technology innovation.
Adding her voice to these powerful narratives, Franziska Huber, PR & Communications Lead for Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India at Western Digital, reflects upon her pathway to technology from the PR sector. She emphasizes, “The tech industry has always fascinated me—not only because of its innovations but also because of its supportive, open-minded community.

As a young woman in a male-dominated field, I’ve deeply appreciated the support provided by mentors and colleagues.” Franziska highlights the importance of finding strong role models and networks: “I belong to a Women Impact Network; stories shared within it have inspired me to confront inequalities and demand equal treatment.” She underscores technology’s dynamic nature, saying, “The constant evolution, particularly in fields like data storage and AI, is fascinating. It feeds my creativity and passion for storytelling, offering endless opportunities to innovate.”

Sheetal Kalra, Regional Channel Manager – Middle East & Turkey at SolarWinds, shares that curiosity has been integral to her nearly two-decade-long technology career, stating, “Continuous learning and curiosity have kept my passion for technology alive.” Her journey underscores lifelong adaptability as a critical aspect of sustained success in tech.
Despite their remarkable achievements, these women frequently encounter unique challenges in the tech landscape. Aziza Makkar confesses, “In this male-dominated environment, I often had to demonstrate my capabilities twice as strongly to earn recognition.” Franziska emphasizes the subtle but persistent struggles of unconscious bias, stating, “Women are often interrupted or face gendered communication biases. We might speak softly or cautiously, interpreted as uncertainty, while men’s directness is considered assertive leadership.”

Heeba Siddiqa echoes these sentiments and says she sometimes feels isolated when she is the sole woman in meetings. “Constantly proving your competence can be exhausting,” she admits, highlighting the importance of resilience and supportive networks. Dr. Zulekha Amed similarly calls attention to the necessity of inclusive workspaces, emphasizing, “We must create environments where women’s contributions are actively valued and recognized.”
Shaista Ahmed raises concerns about the difficulty balancing demanding technology careers with personal commitments. Laura Padilla shares that effective mentoring can significantly mitigate these challenges, stating, “Mentors who challenge and encourage you are essential for professional growth.” Franziska further stresses this, declaring, “We need more male allies and female representatives at higher levels. Franziska Huber concludes with passionate advice for aspiring young women: “Do it and be confident. We urgently need more women in STEM to diversify perspectives, shatter stereotypes, and inspire future generations.” She strongly advocates mentorship, noting, “Working with mentors has allowed me to understand myself better, grow professionally, and build important networks. “There were moments when I had to work harder to gain recognition”, said Infoblox’s Burcu Cansever Ezer. “But the landscape is changing now, more and more companies recognize the value of diversity, and an increasing number of women are stepping into tech roles. Technology offers endless opportunities, so stay curious, embrace new challenges, and seek support when needed.”
