XFX has officially launched its custom based 6000 series graphics cards and is called the Speedster Mercury 319 Radeon RX 6800 series. XFX is known to provide custom cards with overclocked performance as compared to the reference designs and the new Speedster card is no exception.
XFX mentions that the new Speedster MERC319 Radeon RX 6800 series is “engineered to deliver powerhouse performance for all gamers”. The new card features the new XFX Ghost Thermal design that helps to cool the GPU better than older models. The design comes with a straight-through airflow that helps to improve the cooling of the card. The card packs three double ball bearing fans that feature 13 blades each to increase the total airflow and quieter long-lasting operation. The double ball bearing design of the fan helps for better endurance and efficiency by reducing the friction heat.
The Speedster MERC319 Radeon RX 6800 series also uses 6mm, 6-piece/7piece copper heat pipes for efficient transfer of heat from the GPU. There is also an aluminum backplate heat spreader on the rear side of the graphics card. XFX mentions that they have used more number of thermal pads throughout the card, including on all the VRM’s, memory chips, and the GPU itself to increase the cooling effect of the card. The Speedster MERC319 Radeon RX 6800 also comes with a DUAL BIOS switch with the options such as “Balanced” for optimal performance, and another mode called “Stealth”. In the case of the faster Speedster MERC319 Radeon RX 6800 XT card, the GPU also comes with a Dual BIOS switch but instead of the “Stealth” mode, you get the “Rage” mode.
XFX states that the MERC319 Radeon RX 6800 Black uses a 10+1 Phase Power Design for stable overclocked gameplay performances. On the contrary, the AMD Radeon RX 6800 series uses a 7+1 phase power design. On the other hand, the MERC319 Radeon RX 6800 XT Black uses a 14+2 phase power design. The AMD RDNA2 GPU on the Speedster MERC319 Radeon RX 6800 Black features different clock speeds for both the BIOS. With the Balanced BIOS, the base clock is set at 1850 MHz, the Game Clock at 1980 MHz, and the boost clock up to 2190 MHz. The “Stealth” mode downclocks the performance, where the base clock is 1175 MHz, the Game clock at 1925 MHz, and the boost clock at 2155 MHz.
And for the faster Speedster MERC319 Radeon RX 6800 XT Black, the Balanced BIOS offers 1900 MHz as the base clock, 2090 MHz as the game clocks, and a faster 2340 MHz speed as the boost clocks. While the boost clocks are basically the Rage mode that we activate from the Radeon application, the card has its own Rage BIOS mode that delivers 1925 MHz speeds for the base clocks, 2110 MHz speeds for the game clocks, and 2360 MHz speeds for the boost GPU clocks.
The XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon RX 6800 Black features 3840 stream processors and the Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT Black comes with 4608 stream processors. Both the cards feature 16GB GDDR6 memory with a 256-bit memory bus and 16Gbps as the memory clock. Both the cards also hold HDMI 2.1 and Display Port 1.4 ports. However, the XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT Black has two Display Ports 1.4, one HDMI 2.1 port, and one USB-C port. The Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon RX 6800 Black comes with three Display Port 1.4 ports and one HDMI 2.1 port. XFX recommends that your system should have a 750W power supply and the cards use 2x PCI-E 8-pin connectors. We will keep you posted about the local release and prices of the new XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon RX 6800 series cards.
