Expecting double digit growth

Channel Post speaks with Nadeem Khanzadah, Head of omni-channel retail at Jumbo on how important the regional consumer electronics show, GITEX Shopper, is for the company and how Jumbo intends to leverage its presence at the event for growth.

What does GITEX Shopper mean to you? How long have you been present in Shopper and what has been your experience till date?

Since the inception of GITEX Shopper, Jumbo is among the biggest retail exhibitors over the years. As the largest and most influential consumer IT and electronics sales exhibition in the Middle East, GITEX Shopper is an event that continues to reinvent itself and is extremely popular with shoppers in the UAE, and across the wider region.

What is the size of your presence at the show this year?

Jumbo has always been among the largest exhibitor at GITEX Shopper. This year, our exhibition space is more than 1,000 square meters. This only shows how we view GITEX as an important exhibition.

Which brands will you be working with during the Shopper?

Jumbo will be working with all major consumer electronics and information technology brands such as Apple, Samsung, Sony, HP, Lenovo, Dell, Bose. In addition, we will have a special Experience Zone for products from Asus, Samsung VR, Dyson, and Insta Cameras.

Also look out for a Gaming Experience zone that will consolidate the PC as well as Console Gaming products.

Why should brands look at working with you and what value do you provide to the vendors?

It is all about providing consumers with an unmatched experience – which is what Jumbo’s main focus is. Through us, our vendors will be achieving their goals of customer satisfaction and optimum experience. At this event, Jumbo provides true omni-channel marketing to vendors with exposure to our retail and online stores, and social media channels.

Keeping in mind that several customers plan their key technology purchases around GITEX Shopper, Jumbo will showcase the latest and most comprehensive line-up of products, along with a fabulous range of competitive offers, promotions and premium giveaways.

We are also partnering with Fetchr for the first time ever to provide direct home delivery service as a convenience factor to our customers.

How do you promote yourself during GITEX Shopper?

GITEX Shopper is an important event for us and a lot of investment goes into providing the best deals and real bargains for our loyal customers. We also ensure that each and every member of our team involved in sales, cashiers, deliveries, marketers and logistics are given proper training.

During the show, Jumbo focuses on a full 360 campaign that incorporates print, in-store, digital, radio and social media.

What do you expect from the autumn edition of GITEX Shopper?

Year-on-year, GITEX Shopper continues to attract massive visitors not only from the UAE but across the region as well. With a strong line-up of new product launches from big IT brands this year, we are confident that we will see a double digit growth of sales this GITEX Shopper. Jumbo is focusing on new technology products such as wearable technologies, VR products, drones, high-end gaming products – and this year, we are expecting a much stronger association of new technology with Jumbo.

I believe that GITEX Shopper will continue to do well and we are optimistic that our target will be achieved again this year.
