Equinix will share how cloud is driving digital transformation in the MENA region at Cloud MENA taking place at Dubai World Trade Center, starting today 1st of May.

Cloud MENA is the only cloud focused event for enterprises and SMEs in the MENA region, helping them build digital, secure and competitive business with the help of cloud computing.

According to Cisco Global Cloud Index (2015-2020), in Middle East and Africa, cloud data center traffic will grow 4.4-fold by 2020 to reach 304 Exabytes per year, at a CAGR of 34% from 2015 to 2020. By 2020, 95 percent of all workloads in Middle East and Africa will be processed in the cloud, compared to 78% in 2015. Consumer will represent 68% of cloud data center traffic by 2020 in Middle East and Africa, compared to 33% in 2015.

Though rapid IT and business transformation are major incentives for jumping onto the cloud, adoption barriers remain, even as it steadily moves forward within the enterprise. Gartner reports that “security and/or privacy concerns continue to be the top inhibitors to public cloud adoption, despite the strong security track record and increased transparency of leading cloud providers.”

“One of the ways businesses can use the cloud more securely is through direct, dedicated interconnections between network and cloud providers and users and data, bypassing the hacking and performance risks of the public internet,” said Jeroen Schlosser, Managing Director, Equinix MENA. “Moving enterprise IT infrastructure to the edge, where proximate, direct cloud and carrier interconnections can be deployed via growing numbers of concentrated cloud/network provider and business ecosystems, is a great way achieve lower latency. It also brings enterprise IT services closer to globally dispersed employees, partners, customers and things, and the massive amounts of data they create.”

Michael Winterson, MD Equinix Services, EMEA, said: “We at Equinix see multi-cloud convergence hitting a tipping point and the cloud as a major catalyst for changing how enterprises will do business in the emerging global digital economy. As previously predicted by Gartner, we believe hybrid cloud will dominate these enterprise deployments, however the key is to know and help MENA organizations choose the ‘right’ cloud so that they can truly innovate, understand their future cloud requirements and change their business models.”

Equinix experts will be present on 1st and 2nd May at the Cloud MENA event at Stand No 37, Dubai World Trade Center, examining Hybrid and multi Cloud strategies and providing options to book VIP Data Center Tours to Equinix IBX in Dubai.
