Huawei Announces the new Mate 9 Smartphone

Reporting from Munich, Germany: Huawei has launched its new flagship phone, the Mate 9. The Mate 9 features a unibody metal design and good overall build quality. It also comes with a 5.9-inch full HD display and runs on the Kirin 960 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage which is expandable up to 256GB by microSD.

Under the hood the Mate 9 is powered by a 4000mAh battery and sports USB-C for fast charging. Huawei says you can get a full day’s charge in just 20 minutes, using the company’s supercharge power adapter, which is bundled into the box.

Turn the smartphone around and you will find a dual camera system powered by Leica. The dual camera system feature a 12-megapixel RGB sensor and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. You’ll also find a fingerprint scanner just below the camera module.

With the Mate 9, Huawei has also implemented a 4-in-1 hybrid autofocus which combines laser focus, phase detection focus, depth focus and contrast focus. According to the company, using these modules, the camera system will be able to produce “stunning photography”.

The Mate 9 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with Huawei’s own EMUI 5.0 on top of it. The Huawei Mate 9 will be available for €699 in black, space gray, moonlight silver, champagne gold, mocha brown and ceramic white when it launches. Regional pricing will be announced soon.
