
Mascom launches 4G in Botswana

Botswana mobile operator, Mascom has launched the next generation of mobile broadband technology, 4G/LTE.
Dzene Makwhade-Seboni, chief marketing officer, said in Gaborone that the 4G/LTE network will give subscribers greater ease of transferring large volumes of data and the possibility to offer a variety of end user services, including higher speed mobile data, video telephony and mobile TV.
“Having successfully trialed 4G/LTE, we are now taking the next logical step, ” said Makwhade- Seboni.
Mascom’s 3G mobile broadband services cover 70% of the country’s population.
Statistics provided by Mascom show that the company has 52% market share with 1.7 million subscribers.
