GE Healthcare is putting the spotlight on a collaborative model of advanced healthcare delivery through stronger integration of caregivers, patients, and technology providers at Arab Health 2014, the Middle East and Africa’s premier healthcare conference, to be held at the Dubai International Convention Center from January 27 to 30.
Under the theme, ‘Advancing Healthcare Together,’ the company is presenting a wide range of the latest technologies and solutions at Arab Health, which highlight GE Healthcare’s focus on promoting innovation across all aspects of healthcare delivery. The Platinum Sponsor of the event, GE Healthcare is also extending its support to leading conferences held on the sidelines of the event, including the Big Data Conference, Leaders in Healthcare, Middle East Anaesthesia and Radiology Conferences.
Maher Abouzeid, President and CEO of GE Healthcare for the Middle East and Pakistan, said: “Healthcare expenditure in the GCC region has been increasing at an estimated 7.9 per cent per annum over the last ten years, and the total healthcare expenditure is expected to be US$79.2 billion in 2015*. The key drivers in healthcare expenditure growth are the increasing incidence of lifestyle diseases and population growth.
“To address this challenge, there is greater emphasis from governments to partner with companies that provide complete and full solutions, which is one of the core priorities of GE Healthcare. With over 40 years of operations in the region, GE Healthcare is focused on bringing in new and advanced technologies to the region, underlining our capabilities and innovative approaches to help deliver customer-oriented solutions. These technologies enable caregivers to strengthen operational efficiency, enhance diagnostic competencies, and potentially reduce healthcare expenditure through timely treatment.
“Highlighting our commitment to advancing healthcare together with our partners in the Middle East, GE Healthcare is showcasing its latest innovative medical technologies, services, and solutions aimed at providing greater clinical confidence, patient comfort, hospital productivity, and connectivity for the first time in the Middle East at Arab Health 2014. At this year’s event, we will be showcasing our broad portfolio of technology solutions in Radiology, Oncology, Cardiology, Woman and Child Health, Critical Care, and in the Operating Room, with an innovative booth design that brings the hospital experience to life.”
Reflecting its focus on localization and building sustainable long-term partnerships, GE Healthcare will highlight new products in cardiology and radiology. Underlining the two key sectors that are central to managing the increase in lifestyle diseases, GE Healthcare is committed to delivering outcomes-based solutions that increase access to affordable and quality healthcare.
One of the landmark products being introduced to the region at the event is the Revolution CT,** 510(k) pending, a first-of-its-kind computed tomography (CT) system, combining wide coverage, high spatial resolution and high temporal resolution technology into an ‘all in one’ CT system. This innovative technology enables clinicians to non-invasively visualize the human heart more clearly than ever before, and diagnose more patients with erratic or high heart beats.
GE Healthcare will also launch the Centricity 360, which is designed to streamline clinical collaboration among caregivers and patients, and is built on GE’s Industrial Internet platform called Predix, connecting machines, people and data to improve outcomes.
Also on display will be GE Healthcare’s exclusive clinical application for its fixed radiographic systems, VolumeRAD, which offers improved detection and management of patients with lung nodules compared to conventional x-ray imaging of the chest.
As the first thoracic radiographic tomosynthesis product with a specific indication, VolumeRAD is GE’s breakthrough X-ray application that aims to improve the detection of lung nodules and the subsequent management of patients, and provide physicians with multiple high-resolution slice images of the anatomy of interest, including the chest, abdomen, extremities, and spine.
