Barracuda eyes Middle East for expansion

Barracuda announces the expansion of its portfolio of solutions in the Middle East in response to demand for stronger security following a global increase in high profile security attacks.

Barracuda Networks’ research scientists have been analysing the latest cyber security threats landscape and will be sharing new research into the latest threats affecting consumers and businesses in the Middle East. The number of malware found on a daily basis dramatically increased by 55% in 2010, with one in five searches leading to a compromised site and 1% of malware originating from Twitter.

Russell Johnson, VP International Business, Barracuda Networks, said, “The Middle East is of great importance to Barracuda Networks. We already have over 1000 customers in the region and are very pleased to be taking part in Gitex 2011. We are growing our sales and marketing resources to support our partners, hiring new talent to help them to increase their business, and developing new partner tools to make working with Barracuda Networks easy, profitable and enjoyable.”

Dr. Judge concludes: “We will be sharing best practices for end-users when using social networking sites and search engines, as well as sharing new research on the threat landscape, with specific data for the Middle East at Gitex 2011.”

During Gitex, Barracuda will also provide demonstrations of its advanced Barracuda NG firewall. The Barracuda NG Firewall is built on European technology developed in Austria and is leading the way in NG Firewall solutions, with an install base of 20,000 worldwide, including some of the world’s largest banks.
