O3b Networks the developer of a new fibre-quality, satellite-based, global connectivity solution has signed a multi year million dollar partnership with Pak Datacom, a move that will see the company supply O3bs exclusive services into the Pakistan market. The agreement will provide national and international satellite capacity to all borders of Pakistan.
Ali Akhtar Bajwa, CEO/MD, Pak Datacom, said, “Pakistan market will remain reliant on satellite technology, due to terrain limitations that prevent the deployment of reliable, cost effective fibre optic and backhaul networks. We are excited about the possibilities O3bs technology will bring to our market. O3bs Medium Earth Orbit satellites provide us with fibre like capacity and cutting edge backhaul solutions, to address the burgeoning needs of fixed and mobile operators in Pakistan. O3bs technology puts Pak Datacom in a unique position to provide continuous capacity that will intercept the increasing demand we see for high bandwidth services.”
John Finney, EVP Sales and Marketing, O3b Networks adds that: “We are pleased to add Pak Datacom to our growing list of exclusive resellers in our key markets. Pak Datacom has reserved sufficient capacity to provide national coverage, totalling some 1728 Megahertz of raw capacity. Countries like Pakistan are well positioned to provide back office support to the global business community; provided they have the right connectivity solution. This is great news for mobile operators in the country in need of low cost, high quality capacity to relieve network congestion and address the increasing challenge of lower network ARPUs (average revenue per user).”
