Enviroserve and Khadamat joins hands to run Green phone program

Khadamat and Enviroserve signed an agreement to run a Green phone program which is aimed to facilitate recovery and recycling of used mobile phones and accessories and ensure toxic components are processed in specialized refineries overseas in order to extract and re-use the raw materials. The campaign also includes the collection and recycling of obsolete electronic items from across the campus.

Mobile phones contain highly toxic substances that if disposed of incorrectly go directly to landfill resulting in contamination of soil, water and air “We have to stop this and take active steps to ensure mobile phones don’t end up in domestic landfill,” added Leyla Porteous, Support Services Manager of Khadamat.

“Khadamat is ahead, in terms of their thinking, way of responding and in the quest to do things properly. Khadamat are the first Facilities Management Company that has started a proper e-waste recycling initiative in Al Ain” said, Zornitza Hadjitodorova, Division Manager E-Waste at Enviroserve.
