The Association of Arab Universities (AARU), an independent umbrella pan-Arab organization helping boost higher education in the Arab world, and Amman-based Knowledge Beam, a leading e-learning-related technology solutions provider have signed an agreement under which Knowledge Beam provides Moodle, the world’s most trusted and popular learning management system, to facilitate a flawless higher education process, supported with virtual and augmented reality solutions and other features.
For its part, AARU will introduce the new solution to its 700 member universities and encourage them to use it, out of its commitment to enhancing university education and rising to address the challenges brought about by COVID-19 pandemic.
The agreement was signed by AARU Secretary General, H.E. Dr. Amr Salama, and Knowledge Beam’s CEO Jamal Qaffaf. “It is our mandate to seek partnerships like the one we have just entered with Knowledge Beam,” said Dr. Salama. “We seek the best for our universities and students, including the most effective solutions that ensure a smooth, uninterrupted learning process, regardless of the hurdles brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic. Our cooperation will continue as we pursue the perfect endgame of this process”.
The Secretary General added that the model provided by Knowledge Beam “has the answers we seek to take the educational process to a new level. This is our job and it is a continuous process”.
Commenting on the partnership, Qaffaf said “Moodle is already serving millions of students and professors worldwide. What we have done is adding the VR feature to facilitate applied education for students of science, engineering, medicine and others who need to be in the lab for a complete learning experience”. He added that education and innovation should go hand-in-hand to serve our generation of students as the world is pacing rapidly on the technology path.
“We appreciate the approach adopted by the AARU as it carries out its mission of serving Arab higher education and we value our partnership, believing that such cooperation is the answer to any difficulties the sector faces,” Qaffaf concluded.
