Nokia appointed Tom Farrell, as the General Manager for Nokia Lower Gulf, a region comprising UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman. Mr Farrell has been with Nokia for seven years in various roles, most recently leading the Services Sales and Delivery team globally to bring Nokia’s Ovi services to millions of consumers in collaboration with mobile operators and retailers. AFCOMP part of Al-Futtaim group signed an partner agreement with Nokia to distribute mobile phones to key domestic retailers in the UAE. AFCOMP will supply the full range of mobiles phones including the latest feature-rich smartphones such as the Nokia E7, C7 and N8. Distribution agreement follows the earlier partnership agreement between Techserve, an Al-Futtaim group company, and Nokia to act as its Care Centre partner in the UAE. The Care Centre offers holistic solutions to consumers providing not only repair assistance, but also support for Nokia services including the Nokia Ovi Store, Nokia Music Store and, Nokia Mail for Exchange, as also Nokia Messaging.

With the unprecedented growth in mobile sales, Nokia Markets Middle East and Africa in collaboration with Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) once again joined hands in a mobile recycling campaign. Now on its 3rd phase of project implementation, the campaign reaches new heights as the program extends its reach to a greater number of target participants from the various sectors of the UAE community. The Borrow-A-Bin scheme shall be once again rolled out among EEG’s corporate members where recycling bins shall be placed in the participating organization’s premises for a week to provide facility for the employees to take part in the campaign.
