Shifra hosts raodshow on security trends and solutions

According to Gartner the increase in the adoption of mobile, cloud, social and information will drive the use of security technology and services through 2016. In addition 2014 will see worldwide spending on information security reach USD 71.1 billion in 2014, triggered by the rapid adoption rate.

shifraThe forecast prompted Shifra, a UAE-based value added distributor, host its security roadshow in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. Covering a range of topics, experts discussed the latest information on security, IT trends and innovation and cyber-security.

“There has been an increased awareness surrounding security over the last few years in the Middle East,” said Ahmad Elkhatib, Managing Partner at Shifra. “Organisations from different sectors are looking at security differently and more seriously, and it’s creating new opportunities to advance solutions and raise awareness.”

The Gartner report noted that a significant portion of organisations are shifting existing resources away from operational aspects in favour of specialised security technologies, mitigation and incident response. “This new dynamic has given rise to significant growth throughout the globe for managed security services,” said the Gartner report.

“The roadshow was a success and it emerged that business security purchase decisions has positive effects, with companies becoming technology competitive, they are looking for the latest and most innovative security solutions on the market to protect against advanced targeted attacks,” concluded Elkhatib.

Other vendors at the roadshow included Gemalto, an international digital security company, Aerohive, an enterprise networking company and Centrify provider of Unified Identity Services across the data centre, cloud and mobile.
