Brocade brings enterprise-class SAN management to midrange enterprises

Mid-sized businesses in the Middle East will now be able to deploy Fibre Channel Storage Area Networks (SANs) with reliability, availability and performance comparable to that of enterprise-class IT systems. This is on account of the inclusion of Brocade’s Fabric Vision technology in EMC’s entry-level primary storage and data protection solutions that are now available to EMC Business Partner Program participants.

Dubai SME, in a report released in January 2014, found that in the UAE, which is typically seen as one of the leading IT markets in the Middle East, only 21 percent of the total number of SMEs use advanced IT systems. Today, virtualization and cloud computing are allowing enterprises across the Middle East to maintain high application availability and responsive support level agreements. Brocade believes that competitive IT systems, specifically designed for the needs of mid-range enterprises, will drive the uptake and usage of these platforms in the segment.

“Mid-range enterprises struggle with low budgets and limited IT resources. We do however see tremendous potential in this market and are confident that providing a platform that is easy to manage, affordable and extremely robust will help these organizations unlock capabilities that are already being leveraged by 90% of the world’s Fortune 1000 companies,” said Yarob Sakhnini, Regional Director, MEMA at Brocade Communications.

With Brocade’s Fabric Vision technology, the new EMC VNXe3200 unified, hybrid storage array and EMC Data Domain deduplication storage systems are now optimized for midrange customers with enterprise capabilities. Brocade Fabric Vision technology simplifies the setup and ongoing operation of the new EMC storage and data protection systems. Customizable dashboard views provide early warning of potential problems and help IT staff to visualize overall fabric health and performance to reduce operational costs.

Brocade Network Advisor Professional, an essential element of Brocade Fabric Vision technology, has new features to support midsized environments, including dual-fabric redundant paths between servers and storage that deliver enterprise-class reliability and availability. The software also supports smaller port counts, enabling SANs to be right-sized for optimal operation, Brocade said.

The EMC VNXe3200 is EMC’s most affordable unified hybrid array delivering MCx multicore optimized power combined with simple and fast setup, new levels of efficiency and five-nines availability for business-critical applications. The new Data Domain DD2200 reduces backup and archive storage requirements by 10 to 30x and consolidates backup and archive data on a single system to eliminate silos.

“Combining our new VNXe primary storage, Data Domain protection storage and VSPEX solutions with Brocade’s enhanced SAN technologies advances the state-of-the-art in helping our midmarket customers further their journey to the cloud by transforming their operations to deliver IT as a service,” said Brian Jackson, Senior Director, Global Alliances, EMC Corporation.
