enza, a leading provider of payment technology and financial services infrastructure, today announced a strategic partnership with Fraudio, the AI-powered fraud detection company, to strengthen fraud and financial-crime prevention for banks, payment companies and financial institutions across Africa.
The partnership brings Fraudio’s advanced artificial intelligence and machine-learning capabilities fully integrated into enza’s platform, giving enza customers access to industry-leading fraud protection through enzaGuard as they develop and launch new payment products and services.
At the centre of the partnership is enzaGuard, powered by Fraudio’s fraud intelligence and machine-learning technology. Fully integrated into the enza platform, enzaGuard’s AI-powered fraud and financial-crime solution provides a cloud-native, real-time fraud detection layer that can ingest signals across issuing, acquiring, transfers, wallets and ATM activity. It analyses transaction patterns, enriched attributes, peer-group behaviour and transaction sequences to generate risk scores in milliseconds, which can be integrated into existing authorisation, 3DS and review workflows.
This pre-integration means enza customers can benefit from sophisticated fraud protection quickly and easily, without the complexity of sourcing, integrating and managing a separate fraud solution. As customers roll out new products and services that enable consumers to make payments and businesses to accept them, enzaGuard provides protection built into the proposition from the outset.
The solution is designed to address emerging threats including account takeover, bot attacks, mule networks and authorised push payment scams, while improving detection, reducing false positives and minimising unnecessary friction for legitimate customers. It also supports merchant-initiated fraud, mule detection and suspicious movement of funds, helping organisations strengthen fraud and broader financial-crime controls through a single AI layer.
Hany Fekry, Chief Executive Officer of enza, said: “Fraud is evolving rapidly as digital payments scale across Africa. By integrating Fraudio’s AI capabilities directly into enzaGuard, we can give our customers sophisticated protection as part of the enza platform — quickly, easily and without compromising the payment experience. It is another way we help our customers create richer, more compelling payment propositions backed by the capabilities they need to grow with confidence.”
João Moura, Founder and CEO of Fraudio said: “Our mission is to fight fraud smarter by decomplexifying and disrupting the fraud detection industry. Working with enza allows our AI-powered technology to be embedded directly into the payment experience, helping financial institutions across Africa respond to increasingly sophisticated fraud challenges.”
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to making digital payments safer, more trusted and more resilient across Africa, while giving enza customers another valuable capability to support innovation, growth and customer trust.
