The Champion Hospital selects Oracle Cerner to deliver integrated healthcare

The Champion Hospital in Kuwait has selected Oracle Cerner to implement an EHR platform across its full care facilities

The Champion Hospital, the first general and rehabilitation private hospital in Kuwait, has selected Oracle Cerner to implement an integrated electronic health record (EHR) platform across its full care facilities. The Cerner Millennium EHR is designed to support a patient’s health care journey from the doctor’s office to the hospital or outpatient clinics, to post-acute care and rehab via an integrated IT platform.

A multi-specialty facility located in the heart of Kuwait’s community Sabah Alsalem, The Champion Hospital is set to open in quarter two of 2023, and the first phase of the Cerner Millennium® EHR implementation will be in the hospital’s Tower A. Covering an area of 4750sqm and comprising a 26-level main building, the hospital will have one of the biggest radiology and lab centers in Kuwait’s private healthcare sector. It will also offer twelve surgery rooms, two hybrid surgery rooms, four one-day surgery rooms, and 70 clinics, all under one roof.

Commenting on this announcement, The Champion Hospital’s Chairman Mr. Hassan Qabazard, said, “As part of the New Kuwait Vision 2035, the healthcare industry continues to build a robust technology infrastructure to support the provision of high-quality healthcare services. The collaboration with Oracle Cerner will support The Champion Hospital with creating a seamless healthcare experience. This agreement aligns with the facility’s vision of delivering the best global healthcare services in Kuwait without the need for citizens to seek overseas treatment.”

The EHR will provide access to a single, reliable, and integrated source of clinical information. Once implemented, the platform is intended to provide caregivers with immediate and secure access to a patient’s health record and treatments and, as a result, help them make more informed decisions based on specific patient needs. In addition, it will create automated end-to-end clinical and business processes that can help the delivery of a smooth patient journey and high-quality care.

The Champion Hospital plans to proactively develop and adopt a digital healthcare operation that caters to the current and future trends of the healthcare industry. The hospital is equipped with advanced medical equipment and to help the clinical and administrative staff provide patients with quality medical care.

Mr. Qabazard added, “We are also considering how a potential new vendor would support the training requirements of 1,000 employees. Working with Oracle Cerner will allow us to limit the technical burden on staff related to the technical aspects of the system, allowing them to focus on training on the new system and the provision of better patient care workflows. I believe having a partner that’s supportive and agile will be key to our success using the new system.”

Hani Elsayed, The Champion Hospital CIO, said, “By using Oracle Cerner, we will engage clinicians with individuals beyond the hospital walls and country borders. The technology will dramatically fast forward our ability to care for the community and strengthen the relationship between patients and clinicians in addition to helping us achieve the outcomes we aim for: quality, safety, and continuity of care. By implementing Cerner Millennium, caregivers will have instant access to the patient’s records across the continuum of care. The timeliness and availability of the data will enable providers to proactively provide care.”

Akram Sami, Vice President and Managing Director at Oracle Cerner, said, “We are honored to be chosen as the EHR provider for The Champion Hospital and are delighted to welcome the hospital to Oracle Cerner’s client community. With our solutions, it will be well-equipped with advanced technology to support its success in the new era of healthcare.”
