Mobily has partnered with Ericsson to deploy a new software package on its 5G network in Saudi Arabia to boost upload speeds and enhance the user experience. This rollout is part of Mobily’s aim to provide a high-quality network performance in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
Given the significant increase in data traffic due to the use of platforms such as video conferencing, the new software package – which enables 256 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) – will increase both network efficiency and uplink speeds for Mobily customers. This means a significantly improved user experience for Mobily subscribers while browsing the internet on their mobile devices.
The boost in network speed also results in better streaming experience and content sharing for users. The feature enables 5G consumers to enjoy higher data upload speeds, and significantly maximize 5G capabilities compared to the currently available speed.
The recent rollout was part of a series of enhancements conducted by Mobily, in collaboration with Ericsson, for the continuous improvement of network quality and speed.
Alaa Malki, Chief Technology Officer at Mobily said: “Mobily always seeks to offer the latest technologies in the field of telecommunications. This 256 QAM software feature provides increased upload speed to our customers and enables us to improve even further our customer offering and experience, supporting our alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.”
Ekow Nelson, Vice President at Ericsson Middle East and Africa, said: “Mobily is a longstanding partner for Ericsson in the Middle East and Africa region, and this successful rollout is an important milestone in our joint strategy to continuously help to expand and modernize Mobily’s network to cater for the growing data consumption while offering superior and seamless user experience. We will continue to support Mobily to successfully contribute in enabling digital transformation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
