Zebra join hands with Smartbox to help people with disabilities communicate

Zebra, an innovator at the front line of business with solutions and partners that deliver a performance edge, today announced that Smartbox, an assistive technology solutions provider has selected Zebra ET50 and ET51 tablets to help people with disabilities communicate and live more independent lives.

“It’s an amazing feeling when a child, who’s never had the ability to talk, communicates for the first time with their parents,” said Dougal Hawes, Business Development Director, Smartbox. “It’s a very profound experience and just one of the many milestone moments our technology can enable; all our solutions are genuinely life-changing and make a massive difference to people’s quality of life.”

Smartbox urgently needed a small delivery of ET50 tablets to fulfill outstanding orders for mobile users and those requiring a mounted solution on a wheelchair or floor stand. Zebra delivered on this request and helped fulfill a longer-term requirement for ruggedized tablets with customizable accessories – depending on the needs of each patient – for its integrated solution called Grid Pad. Following the initial ET50 delivery, Smartbox is also using ET51 tablets with customized splash screens and cases for its Grid Pad offerings.

“We are constantly reviewing and updating our software and hardware offerings, and it was clear from our latest testing the Zebra ET51 tablet met our exact requirements,” Hawes continued. “We are delighted to use Zebra tablets in our Grid Pads to provide a voice to people without speech.”

“We are delighted to be a part of these assistive solutions,” said Cath Lissenden, Regional Sales Manager, OEM, Zebra Technologies. “It’s absolutely fantastic to see Smartbox using our tablets to help its customers enjoy a greater level of independence and a higher quality of life. We look forward to helping these users for many years to come.”
