Gitex Technology Week and Gitex Future Stars shifts to December 2020

In the wake of the Covid-19 spread, the organisers for the 40th edition of Middle East’s biggest technology show, GITEX Technology Week has taken a call to reschedule the event towards the end of the year and it is now scheduled to be held on December 6-10, 2020. Similarly, the Gitex Future Stars has also been postponed to be held between December 6-9, 2020.

This year, GITEX Technology Week was originally scheduled to be held between September 27 to October 1. The organisers believe that the new dates will offer more preparation time for all stakeholders and they will be much more prepared given the unexpected turn of events in the wake of the Covid-19 spread.

In a statement, Trixie LohMirmand, executive vice president, Events Management at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) said “Interest has been very encouraging from the business community to come together end of the year to renew business connections and be the first back in the market to discover the new found opportunities that have since emerged.”

She added, “As always, we continue to monitor the wider situation and putting in place robust health and safety measures and protocols as guided by the health authorities. We deeply appreciate our global fraternity’s patience and continued support during this time. As we progress in the next weeks, we shall update on the event on-site management plan including contractors, participants and visitor considerations.”
