Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Microsoft. The year-long agreement appoints Microsoft as a strategic partner of Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Campus (Dtec), the largest tech hub in the Middle East, wholly owned by DSOA.
The MoU outlines a framework to leverage Microsoft’s technology and solutions to advance Dtec’s objective of fostering high-potential UAE startups. The agreement also supports Microsoft’s long-term goal of catalyzing promising B2B and B2C startups, to create an enabling environment for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Startups operating from Dtec can benefit from the ‘Selected Startups’ prioritized application path to the Microsoft for Startups program, while exceptional startups in Microsoft’s program may be considered for one of Dtec’s acceleration programs. Select Dtec startups can also use Microsoft-supplied products, resources and facilities to strengthen their technological capabilities and accelerate business growth.
The MoU also enables Microsoft to host expert-led workshops for Dtec’s startups and creates opportunities for Microsoft executives to mentor them. Such efforts seek to develop local talent and, in turn, enrich the region’s technological landscape.
Dtec and Microsoft have also agreed to sponsor and participate in strategic events, such as Demo Days, as well as promote programs and initiatives that draw upon the natural synergy between the two organizations.
