TCL Communication today announced that it will release the first consumer-ready versions of its future flexible display devices with patented DragonHinge technology in 2020, following a preview of the concept at Mobile World Congress 2019.
Using custom flexible AMOLED displays from TCL sister company, CSOT, these foldable mobile devices are supported by TCL Communication’s proprietary DragonHinge technology which creates a mechanical housing for these devices, allowing them to fold and bend in support of a variety of use cases. This provides effortless and seamless movement, enabling the development of further flexible device designs which will make more advanced user experiences possible.
Christophe Corsi, General Manager, Middle East and Africa, TCL Communication said, “We are working towards the launch of our foldable technology next year in the Middle East and across the globe. We have taken a thoughtful approach to go beyond the limitations of traditional hardware and working closely with partners to deliver a seamless and meaningful user experience within a broader product ecosystem. The Alcatel and BlackBerry products launched at MWC this year continue to offer unparalleled user experience in terms of reliability, productivity, security and entertainment options, across price points.”
TCL Communication has also introduced its latest Alcatel mobile devices, including the Alcatel 3, Alcatel 1, Alcatel 1S smartphones, as well as the Alcatel 3T. Designed with premium, nature-inspired finishes and equipped with the latest TCL-made Full View Displays. Each of these new Alcatel devices comes preloaded with Google Assistant, helping you get things done quickly throughout the day, such as managing tasks, planning your day, enjoying entertainment or controlling your home’s IoT devices.
Among other products unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2019 include the BlackBerry KEY2 Red Edition. This newest addition to TCL’s range of BlackBerry-branded smartphones comes in a deep red Series 7 Aluminum frame, with black accents covering the textured back and the keys.
Powered by Android and including support for popular features like Google Lens and Google Pay the smartphone also incorporates a Google Assistant profile in the Convenience Key. With the new feature, it’s now easier than ever to manage tasks, plan your day, make a phone call, send a message or control your home IoT devices. It also features a dual rear camera and the popular Speed Key, while packing some extra performance with 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage.
The limited Red Edition will also launch with a Hub+ software refresh which includes a new Action bar added to the bottom of the Hub+ applications – improving ergonomics by giving users quick access to primary features like search, sort, and compose. The essential productivity suite has also received a UX update giving both BlackBerry Hub and the BlackBerry Calendar a more modern and stylized look.
