General Mobile to Launch GM6 on Oct 24 in the Region

General Mobile, one of the partners of Google’s Android One program, has announced that it will launch the new GM 6 smartphone in the regional market on Oct 24, 2017. The new smartphone will be launched through the Muller & Phipps Middle East, General Mobile’s local distributor.

GM 6

Along with the GM 6, the company will also launched the GM 5 and the GM 5 Plus smartphones on the local market. The GM 6 is an Android One phone and runs Android 7.1.1. Nougat OS. The company has also promised that Android 8.0 Oreo update will be available in December 2017.

The GM 6 measures 144-by-71.3-by-8.6 mm and comes packed with a 5-inch IPS HD 2.5D display offering a resolution of 1280-by-720 pixels. The display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass.

GM 5

Under the hood, the GM 6 runs on a MediaTek MT6737T, 64bit Quad Core 1.5 GHz processor. It also comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB built-in storage. The camera on the rear is rated at 13MP AF and comes with a Dual Tone Flash. On the front, you get an 8MP camera with an FF flash.

The General Mobile GM 5 meanwhile is also an Android One device. It comes packed with a 5-inch HD display that offers a resolution of 1280-by-720 pixels. The display is also protected by Gorilla Glass. The phone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, 64bit Quad Core  processor that offers a clock speed of 1.2 GHz.

GM 5 Plus

The GM 5 is powered by Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS and the company has said that the Oreo update will be out soon. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, which can be expanded to up to 64GB using  micro SD Card. On the rear, the phone comes with a 13MP AF camera the offers Dual Flash. On the front, you get a 5MP camera.

The GM 5 Plus is also an Android One device and is powered by Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. The company has also promised an Oreo update for this device. The phone comes with  5.5-inch IPS LTPS FHD display that offers a resolution of 1920-by-1080 pixels. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 4.

Under the hood, the phone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, 64bit Quad Core  processor that offers a clock speed of 1.2 GHz. The phone also comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB built-in storage which can be expanded to up to 128GB using a micro SD card. On the rear, the phone comes with a 13MP AF camera with a Dual Flash module. On the front, you get a 13MP AF camera with Flash.

The GM 5 will be available in UAE at a price of AED 399, while the GM 5 Plus will cost AED 699. The GM 6 will be available at AED 549.
