How long have you  been participating at GITEX and what were your takeaways from last year’s event?

This year’s show marks Synology’s 5th appearance at the show. GITEX was a great platform for us last year to power the future of storage and networking by connecting with our customers, resellers and channel partners from all vertical segments. It also gave us the opportunity to connect with the best minds within the ICT industry in the region and we look forward to another successful year at this event.

Why are you most excited about GITEX Technology Week 2017?

GITEX Technology Week is the largest ICT exhibition in the region and has become the platform for technology brands to launch and showcase the latest in tech and innovation. During the event we look forward to connecting with our customers and channel partners, and take part in meaningful conversations with them in terms of best practices, product experiences and valuable feedback.

How has the event been for you so far this year?
This year’s edition of GITEX has been very positive so far in terms of the feedback that we have received from existing and potential customers on our upcoming portfolio of solutions and applications. We’ve also enjoyed lots of opportunities to share our success stories to our customers and partners such as new customer wins and future plans for the region.

At, GITEX Technology Week, Synology will be demonstrating its devotion to bring advanced technologies to businesses and individuals in the Middle East. These include a centralized file portal for NAS users to create an even more streamlined cloud experience, a versatile on-premises business backup solution for servers, cloud services and virtual machines, advanced VPN management tool, and other enhancements on the DiskStation Manager Operating System (DSM) to provide more stable services.

Do you have any plans to launch any new products, solutions or technologies at GITX Technology Week this year?

At the show, we will be introducing new capabilities for our NAS and NVR products. Synology Drive is a new file access, synchronization and management portal integrated with Synology Office, which now comes with a brand-new document type called Slides. With support for PC Client software and Universal Search, users can easily locate files and sync them across different devices. Other key features include the Virtual Machine Manager and iSCSI Manager.

What technology trends have you seen in the Middle East and Africa market?

One of the technology trends that we have observed is how many businesses have introduced network-attached storage (NAS) to replace their file or backup servers, especially considering its cost-effectiveness along with a rich and growing set of features. The need for cloud-based collaboration tools that don’t sacrifice users’ privacy and ownership of data will continue to grow. At Synology, we aim to be at the forefront of this trend, helping professionals work together while maintaining an efficient data protection solution.
