Micromax Aims to be Within the Top Five Spot in MENA Over the Next Two Years

Micromax Informatics has today introduced Canvas 2 (2017) further strengthening its product portfolio in the region. According to the company, the new Canvas 2 is the first smartphone in its price segment to come equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The company also announced its plan to capture a bigger market share, aiming to be among the top five players in the region, over the next 2 years. According to the company, the strategic collaboration with Corning Incorporated is a unique proposition to the users across the country, to accelerate smartphone adoption.

Commenting on the launch, Vikas Jain, Co-Founder, Micromax Informatics said, “MENA is an important market for Micromax and the region is expected to contribute a large chunk to our international market revenue in next 2 years. We have a significant presence in most of the operational international markets and now our focus is on extending the brand’s reach in the MENA market. Backed by a strong product portfolio, we are aiming to be among the top 5 players in the region over the next 2 years. Since our launch in mid-February, we are already available through local distribution in 8 countries and would soon be expanding in other North African markets like Egypt as well. Sporting a 2.5D Cover Glass with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, the company claims that the Canvas 2 gives up to four times better performance in drop failure height than other competitive glasses. The device also delivers the damage resistance, optical clarity and touch sensitivity Corning Gorilla Glass is known for. The Canvas 2 comes with the latest Android Nougat OS.

The Canvas 2 also comes with 360-degree identification Fingerprint Sensor. Powered by a Quad-core 1.3GHz Processor, the new Canvas 2 promises better quality graphics, multi-tasking and improved application performance. With an expandable memory of 64 GB, the phone boats 3GB DDR3 RAM with large Capacity Rapid Access and has High density for compact storage and with 16 GB ROM.

The Canvas 2 also has a 13 MP rear camera with flash and works on different modes such as Bokeh, Panorama, HDR to enhance the superiority of the memorable moments. With a 5 MP selfie camera with wide angle lens that consists of F.20 Aperture, auto focus, 5P Lens, the smartphone will facilitate dynamic pictures with good amount of details.

The device is priced at AED 499 and will be available across all leading retail outlets in MENA from 22nd July onwards.
