UK firm TPP bags £21 million healthcare project in Qatar

TPP-IIS-signingTPP Middle East, subsidiary of UK based The Phoenix Partnership (TPP) recently announced that it has partnered with Qatar based consultancy firm, Integrated Intelligence Services (IIS) to deliver SystmOne to the private healthcare sector across Qatar.

The total value for the project is estimated at £21 million (102m Qatari Riyals) and is spread over a period of five years.

TPP Middle East will implement an integrated electronic medical record system through SystmOne to approximately 300 primary care sites across Qatar. The system will allow medical records to be shared across the country, resulting in the standardisation of patients’ data, whilst also ensuring all patient information is collected more routinely.

This company is eyeing the GCC healthcare market that alone is currently projected to grow at an annual rate of 12%, with Qatar’s spending on healthcare expected to double to $8.8 billion by the year 2020 as reported by Alpen Capital in its 2016 GCC Healthcare Industry Report.

Mark Melvin, Director at TPP Middle East, said, “SystmOne will play an important role in facilitating the collection and centralisation of patient data to better prevent illness and determine developing healthcare trends. This contract demonstrates the commitment that healthcare providers in Qatar have to improving healthcare services and ensuring reliable information systems are in place for the benefit of the patient. There is also the emerging eHealth Strategy which will inevitably require providers to modernise their systems in order to participate in national initiatives.”

The Ministry of Public Health will also have access to SystmOne reports to help monitor and address healthcare trends and build reports themselves. This reporting will enable better service planning, both on clinical and national levels, as doctors will be able to make more informed decisions about future treatment and policymakers will be able to better determine healthcare resource allocation.

TPP and IIS will start to work with clinics in the private sector over the next few months, with the first clinics due to be using SystmOne by the end of the year. TPP’s integrated patient record will be a cornerstone of IIS’s strategy to work with partners to create a network of high quality healthcare services. IIS will support healthcare providers with a range of innovative finance packages, as well as supply chain and technology services. The network will support patients to easily access high quality healthcare, supported by both a shared patient record and a web-based patient portal.

Adnan Jawad, CEO at IIS, said, “The Qatar National Vision clearly shows that the future of healthcare is with those who can provide sustainable, high quality and integrated care to patients. Our mission is to support our partners to achieve this vision.”
