Swiss cabling specialist R&M announced last month that it has open a 1,500-square-metre assembly and production facility in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Located at Modon Industrial City 2, this is the second Middle East-based production facility that R&M has opened – the first being a patch cord assembly line at Dubai Airport Free Zone. R&M said that opening regional facilities like this was a strategic move aimed at boosting the delivery speed and flexibility of its regional operations.

“R&M is today recognised as one of the top three cabling vendors in the region thanks to our strong local presence, together with Swiss engineering,” said Manzoor Ali, managing director at R&M Saudi Arabia.

“A few years ago we had a vision of becoming the leading cabling vendor in Saudi and to achieve that vision we have been investing in the country, for the country. R&M is one of the fastest and most efficient vendors in the market and having this new facility in Saudi is testimony to our commitment to the market. It will allow us to become more customer-oriented and to add value to the local market with our expertise.”

R&M said that the new Saudi facility will have dedicated quality assurance personnel to ensure that products manufactured there meet industry standards. The vendor added that every raw material batch will be monitored by the Swiss headquarters. And new staff will receive training at the headquarters, the company said.

R&M also mentioned that it wanted to use home-grown Saudi talent where it can.

“In the first phase we are hoping to open doors for young Saudi technical personnel and the facility is equipped to have up to 20 technicians working in a single shift,” said Manzoor.
