Channel Post MEA: Tell us the IT business prospects for Business Centre Limited in 2015 in Uganda?
BCL: We expect limited Government expenditure as we approach Elections slated for Feb 2016
Briefly outline the company’s focus in IT and the addressable market you target in Uganda and the wider East Africa IT market? Are you an IT distributor or reseller in Uganda?
The company focus for now is Uganda.
What type of IT services do you offer your clients in Uganda and the rest of the East African market?
IT Support, Supplies and Security
Do you have subsidiaries in other East African countries? If not, does the company have any plans to expand its operations into other countries in East Africa?
In the next two years yes we want to Open an Office in S. Sudan
What are the main areas of IT where Business Centre Limited has expertise in?
IT Security
How competitive is the IT security market in Uganda?
Very Competitive
Which IT vendors does you company represent at the moment?
Kaspersky LAB, Cyberoam, Juniper
Are you looking to expand your product portfolio?
Yes we are looking at more IT Security Solutions out there, our Technical Department together with Marketing Dept. are always on the look for New Solutions to add on our Product Portfolio.
How challenging is it for your company to retain qualified IT professionals?
Quite challenging especially Technical staff, as an SME its like professionals use it as training ground, immediately they attain experience they leave the Company, we are always in the cycle of recruitment.
What do you see as the most challenging issue in the Ugandan IT channel at the moment?
Price wars, Quality of Service
How do you hope to overcome some of the pressing channel issues in Uganda?
Develop repute with Product Developers, we have grown from merely Resellers to Partners and thus at some point we engage Product Developers direct without going through channel managers. Business Centre Ltd is A Gold Partner of Cyberoam and Kaspersky in Uganda.
