In its latest predictions, IDC stated that the on spending ICT products and services in Saudi Arabia will increase 4.6% year on year in 2015 to total $36.95 billion.
IT services will see the fastest growth, with the year to be characterized by growing interest in hybrid cloud solutions as the flexibility of this cloud model begins to resonate with Saudi CIOs looking for a viable and effective ‘halfway house’ between on-premise technology and remotely delivered services.
Commenting on the state of ICT in the kingdom, Abdulaziz Al-Helayyil, regional director for Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain at IDC said, “Over the coming 12 months we expect organizations in Saudi Arabia to increase their investments in the 3rd Platform technologies of cloud, mobility, analytics, and social networking.”
Al-Helayyil further stated, “The expanding use of applications, mobile devices, social media, and other technologies will result in an explosion of data within many Saudi organizations, leading many of them to invest in storage infrastructure, data mining, and analytics applications. As such, demand for storage devices, BI tools, and backup and recovery solutions is expected to remain high in 2015.”
