Allscan, a South African privately owned distribution company specializing in the document imaging industry, has launched a new range of branded products including the latest Brother scanners.
It was a dual launch in which two events were held in Johannesburg and Cape Town to include all the current Allscan (http://www.allscan.co.za/) Trading customers.

In Johannesburg, the event was held at the trendy Catz Pyjamas Restaurant in Melville and was, true to Allscan Trading’s image – totally unique. Without revealing the name of the latest edition to the Allscan portfolio, the invitation and follow up reminders gave customers some hints as to what to expect.
Meanwhile, in Cape Town event had a lot to live up to. It had a completely different look and feel with the spectacular ocean view from Brother’s offices in Camps Bay. Only a few resellers could be invited, due to the limited space, but they were spoiled in Master Chef Style, with Mandy van Greunen preparing an eight course dinner.
Only resellers were invited to the function and it was interesting to note that most of the resellers have been Allscan Trading’s customers since the start of the business. Many relationships go back even further. This familiarity creates a unique bond between Allscan and its customer base.
The aim of both these events was to inform and entertain Allscan’s customers in style, while giving them the opportunity to see and evaluate the latest range of Brother Scanners that is now part of the Allscan portfolio.
“It was an easy decision for us to approach Allscan Trading to be our partner on the scanner side of our business,” said Munna Desai, Brother’s Sales Manager for Southern Africa. “Their combined experience in this industry makes Allscan an automatic choice. We will be working closely with them over the next couple of months with a lot of exciting news to follow and products that are so well priced that it will definitely make an impact on the market.”
Chief Executive Officer Chris Botha said, “Allscan is pleased to be able to launch these new products into the Southern African market, because part of our strategy is to make Allscan Trading the most recognized name in the industry. Ensuring that only known brands are added to our portfolio enables us to always align ourselves with the best, and give our customers a wider product offering, without compromising on quality.”
Other products that also received attention during both launches were the vPDF from VersisGlobal. This compression software enables users to compress scanned documents into about 10% of the original size, without compromising on the quality of the images. It can also be used for previously scanned documents as it can be set up to poll a folder, find files, compress and return as compressed.
“Docmee from Office Gemini includes a basic Document Management System and Capture software and can offer customers cloud based technology at attractive prices” said Evan Strugnell, Sales Manager from Allscan. “Although we don’t want to compete with our customer base, it has become important for us to look at something that can address basic DMS needs, without breaking the bank”.
The software division of Allscan Trading is also flourishing and is no longer just a division of Allscan Trading, but a completely separate business with plans to expand to other African countries. With the Intuitive Dashboard that is feature rich and attractively priced, further news can be expected soon on more successes in that part of their business.
