Please tell us something about yourself.
I have been working in the IT Industry and the channel for the past 14 years. I have had various roles in Sales, Channel Management, and Sales Management and Operations.

What made you choose IT / IT channel industry as a career choice?
Well, the best things in life are the unexpected ones. After my studies, I wanted to take a break for one year before going back to study. I saw an advert at a software company. I applied, and got the job. Since then, it has been a wonderful experience and was given the opportunity to climb up the corporate ladder.

What sort of opportunities are present for women in the IT channel industry?
I think there are plenty of opportunities for women in the IT channel industry. Even though it is a still male dominated world, where very often, I find myself as the only woman during meetings, I really enjoy working with women in the IT Industry, especially in sales.

This is because women have unique qualities in nurturing relationships and building trustful relationships. If the woman also has a technical background, then that is what I consider the creme de la creme.

Who is your role model? Why?
I have more than one role model. I have Angela Merkel, Marissa Mayer – CEO of Yahoo, and my father!

What would you term to be one of your biggest achievements in your career?
With hard work and persistence, I had many achievements big and small. All achievements are different and give their own different kind of satisfaction.

How easy/difficult is it juggling family and work life?
It is difficult to strike a good work and life balance, especially if you are really passionate about what you do – work becomes an essential part of life and sometimes, its difficult to stop and say ‘ok my working day is now over’. But I keep my personal life busy with hobbies and that helps me relax and re-energise myself.

What is your advice for young female professionals?
Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do!
