As part of its efforts to facilitate the adoption and integration of technology in schools, Microsoft Gulf in collaboration with Intel hosted Microsoft Schools Day.
The one-day workshop hosted professionals from Private Schools across the UAE to provide insights into the latest technologies that can create a smart learning environment that reflect the needs of today’s students. During the course of the day, speakers from Microsoft Education and Tablet Academy highlighted the role that technology plays in pedagogy to deliver an enhanced learning experience to the students and supporting the teacher’s outside of the walls of the classroom.
Prof. Steve Molyneux, Chief Executive at the Tablet Academy said: “Schools across the world are experiencing a new renaissance in teaching and learning powered by the growing introduction of tablets and cloud services. There are many types of tablets available but policy matters must understand the difference between acknowledging that such devices exist and choosing the right device that will maximize the benefit to learners. The total cost of ownership and collaborative professional development of teachers is key to success.”
Microsoft is committed to bringing the latest technology to the schools, encouraging the development of creativity, exploration, flexible thinking and actionable innovation. The focus of this workshop will be on O365, in addition to the world of smart digital Applications and mobile devices to support today’s mobile learning environment.
“Microsoft has made a long-term commitment to working with schools and educators in the UAE to expand the world of learning through technology. We are striving to support the development of the education system in the UAE, allowing students to enter into the world of smart learning leveraging the Cloud, mobile devices and digital applications. The main aim of the Schools Day is to share our insights and innovation with teachers and administrators from the UAE’s private schools to inspire technology enablement in the classroom. The aim is not to just provide teachers and pupils with technological devices and internet connections only, but enhance their entire education ecosystem” said Ahmed Ameen, Microsoft Gulf’s Education Sector Lead.
