Wataniya Telecom, the first private telecom operator in Kuwait, announced that Peter Kaliaropoulos has been appointed as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). Kaliaropoulos will be responsible for the daily operations of the company and will report to the General Manager and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Eng. Abdulaziz Fakhroo.
Kaliaropoulos will oversee all operating functions in Wataniya such as Technology, Marketing, Customer Care, Communications and Sales.
Eng. Abdulaziz Fakhroo welcomed the new COO and said in a statement “Kaliaropoulos is now one of our family members and will fill an important key role. We have ambitious goals as an organization for 2014, and we all look forward to the unique background and experience Peter brings to the table and the innovative ideas he will contribute”.
The new COO joins Wataniya Telecom with over 30 years of experience in the ICT sector. He had previously held senior executive roles in Australia, Asia Pacific, North America and Middle East. Peter has led the transformation and growth of a number of companies operating across multiple regions. He has significant expertise in driving customer-centric operating cultures, the development of local talent, optimization of productivity levels and the implementation of growth and acquisition strategies.
Peter joined from Batelco Group where he led its transformation into a company with a regional footprint across 14 markets, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Yemen and Kuwait. He has also served as a Director on the Board of various ICT companies in Singapore, USA, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.
