Lenovo crowned No.1 PC vendor in Qatar

Lenovo, a leading PC vendor in the world, has achieved double digit growth in Total PC market sales in Qatar, according to latest Q4 2013 preliminary figures by the International Data Corporation (IDC).

Lenovo ended the quarter with a 27 percent in total PC market share in Qatar, outperforming the market significantly with Year to Year (YTY) growth of 93.3 percent. The growth reflects Lenovo’s strengthening position in a market that registered an average decline of 2.6 percent YTY. Moreover, Lenovo shipped more Desktop PCs and Portable PCs than any other vendor in Qatar, achieving YTY growth of 14.7 percent and 140.2 percent respectively.

“The significant market share growth that we achieved during the fourth quarter in Qatar is a testament to the investment that Lenovo has made in its business in the State,” said Mohammed Hilili, Lenovo Gulf General Manager. “Both the Desktop PC and Portable PC segment have witnessed strong growth, with Lenovo leading the market with shares of 29.9 percent and 26.3 percent respectively. The Portable PC market witnessed growth of 0.2 percent, helped largely by Lenovo’s growth of 140.2 percent in this segment alone.”

In *Middle East and Africa (MEA), Lenovo achieved a record 12.9 percent market share with 47.8 percent YTY growth. Lenovo was the only vendor in the top 5 to register positive growth according to IDC’s Q4 2013 preliminary results. In addition to Qatar, Lenovo also secured the number one spot in the UAE (22.4%), Lebanon (23.4%) and Jordan (31.4%).
