Dell, a leading provider of security offerings, today announced that its SonicWALL SuperMassive E10800 next-generation firewall (NGFW), running SonicOS 6.0 and integrated Intrusion Prevention Service, again has earned the coveted Recommended rating in the NSS Labs 2013 Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) Security Value Map.
NSS Labs is one of the industry’s most influential third-party evaluators providing independent validation for IT administrators seeking the best-performing security products to protect their networks. Placement in the Recommend quadrant is the highest rating given by NSS Labs. To achieve this rating, the SonicWALL SuperMassive E10800 NGFW excelled in one of the industry’s most comprehensive, real-world tests of Intrusion Prevention Systems, based on the Network Intrusion Prevention methodology v7.2.

During testing, the SonicWALL SuperMassive E10800 blocked 97.6 percent of attacks against server applications, 92.5 percent of attacks against client applications, and 94.8 percent overall. While Dell rates the device at 12 Gbps, the SonicWALL SuperMassive E10800 was measured by NSS Labs at 18 Mbps of real-world throughput. In addition, the SonicWALL SuperMassive E10800 proved effective against all evasion techniques tested.
