Gemalto shows off Remote Subscription Management at CES 2014

Gemalto, a leading provider of digital security solutions, and Hirschmann Solutions have teamed up to demonstrate Remote Subscription Management of advanced M2M applications.

The combined solution closely follows the ‘Embedded SIM2’ specification published by the GSMA and gives enterprises flexibility when selecting their preferred network carrier once the application is being deployed in local markets, avoiding the need to pre-determine network parameters during manufacturing.

This solves a difficult challenge for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), global enterprises, and mobile businesses that do not restrict the final locations where their M2M products will be deployed.

The demo at CES leverages Hirschmann Solutions’ global asset tracking and tracing solution with Gemalto’s Cinterion range of Machine Identification Module (MIM) and a unique multi-mode M2M module enabling reliable, high-speed connectivity on various networks. Installed on shipping containers, on trailers, on pallets and with a variety of other mobile assets, the solution automatically sends GPS location information, inventory updates and asset data to service centers all over the world.

The combination of Gemalto’s remote service provisioning along with the powerful multi-mode M2M module delivers secure global connectivity while eliminating the need for multiple hardware designs for different regions and countries.
