NEC Display Solutions launches MDview272 Medical display

NEC Display Solutions Europe has unveiled the MDview272, a 27-inch display that incorporates some of the latest display innovations into a review and referral display for healthcare professionals.

NEC DisplayThe NEC MDview272 combines the latest display technology with industry standard compliance ‘out of the box’ as well as a range of user productivity enhancements and eco-friendly features. The use of the latest Advanced High Performance In Plan Switching (AH-IPS) panel brings exceptional colour quality and an impressive 3.7 Megapixel (2560×1440) native resolution.

“Whether for image reporting in radiology or as a hospital information system monitor, access to the best-in-class displays is imperative for diagnostic review by trained physicians,” said Ian Gobey, General Manager, Middle East and Africa. “Colour accuracy, image stability, standards compliance and ease of use and maintenance all combine to make this latest offering NEC’s most exceptional reference and referral display to date. As such, the MDview272 fulfils dedicated quality requirements for reproduction of images from Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Nuclear Medicine/PET and Cardiology as well as PACS referral.”

This display also integrates unique built-in firmware features that are not available in off-the-shelf or system-bundled models. These help to optimise image quality and conformance as well as integrated navigation display with Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for the seamless extension of a hospital-wide solution portfolio.

User productivity is further enhanced thanks to ergonomic height adjustment, as well as features such as the programmable USB hub, picture-by-picture display and future-proof connectivity options such as DisplayPort and Mini-DisplayPort support.

Crucially for clinical review displays, the MDview272 ships with factory-settings that meet the DICOM colour or greyscale standard, ensuring it is ready for immediate use. Digital Uniformity Control and Backlight Ageing Correction ensure white point control with consistent image quality.

The GammaCompMD QA client software supplied with the display simplifies maintenance, calibration, constancy and documentation. These features ensure that the LCD displays satisfy the uniformity requirements for acceptance and constancy tests throughout their entire service lives.

Designed for PACS secondary diagnostic review or referral, the NEC MDview272 is not intended to be used for diagnostic image viewing, as it is not a medical device according to MDD 93/42/EC.

The new NEC MDview272 medical display will be available through authorised resellers across Europe from December 2013. Each unit includes the display, power cord, quick reference guide, GammaCompMD QA software on DVD, DVI-D to DVI-D cable and DisplayPort cable. NEC Display Solutions Europe offers a three-year warranty, which also covers the backlight.
