Comguard focuses on cyber security in Doha

Comguard, a Dubai-based leading value-added distributor for IT security products, and a part of Spectrum Group, has announced it has successfully hosted a Cyber Security roadshow in Doha, Qatar. The event was held in association with Ixia, SafeNet, and WildPackets, at Radisson Blue Hotel, in Doha, Qatar.

Cyber Security roadshow in DohaInformation Security in the Middle East and Africa region has evolved over the past few years as a result of the increasing volume and complexity of threats targeting the region. The advanced security threats of today are no longer limited to isolated network infestations but have progressed to become large-scale denial-of-service attacks and identity thefts.

Speaking about the event, Ajay Singh Chauhan, Chief Executive Officer at Comguard, said, “Even more recently, cyberspace has become a platform for political activism with web sites being defaced and defamed in direct retaliation against governments. The region was the first to experience ‘cyber-warfare’ with Stuxnet and versions of Flamer impacting the energy sector. Hence, we organized the Cyber Security@Crossroads event in Doha, Qatar, to reiterate that such security threats are not to be taken lightly.”

Comguard’s Cyber Security@Crossroads event acted as a platform for Enterprise customers and C-level executives, solution providers, and leading experts, to discuss about the challenges and opportunities brought about by the latest technology developments in security. At the event, subject matter experts from Comguard, Ixia, SafeNet and WildPackets were able to discuss first-hand, about new technologies and approaches and how they fit into businesses strategies that are enabled and not hampered by security considerations.

During the course of the event, Derek Jackman, the Regional Sales Manager MEA and EE at IXIA, shared a presentation on IXIA-Network Packet Broking Architecture – maintaining network data and performance integrity. Meanwhile, Adnan Taha, the Sales Manager at SafeNet spoke about “Secure What Matters Where It Matters”. Linus Brand, the Technical Consultant for EMEA Region at WildPackets on the other hand spoke about proactive troubleshooting solutions.

Attendees at the event included decision makers from organizations such as KAHRAMAA, Qatar Steel, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Labour, DHL, Arab Democracy Foundation, Qatar Airways, QCON, Schlumberger, Supreme Judicial Council and Zakat Fund.

“The event’s agenda was a mix of high-impact presentations, informative sessions, in-depth panel discussions, real-life case studies, and interactive Q&A sessions. The Cyber Security@ Crossroads event provided guidance on how to deal with the wide array of constantly evolving threats currently plaguing the security landscape at a time when IT systems, networks, and applications are expanding at a rate never seen before,” concluded Chauhan.
