Tell us about Veeam.
Veeam is all about modern data protection. We believe today’s IT requirements have changed and that “3C” legacy backup problems—high costs, increased complexity and missing capabilities—are no longer acceptable for any organization.

Veeam provides powerful, easy-to-use and affordable solutions that are built for virtualization and the Cloud—a perfect fit for the modern data center. Our solutions include Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam Backup Management Suite, Veeam Backup Essentials, Veeam Backup & Replication Cloud Edition, and so on.

We recently announced the version 7 of our Veeam Backup and Replication Suite. We have offer a variety of plugins such as management plugin for Microsoft System Center to allow customers to manage their whole Veeam environment through System Center on the same console. For HP OpenView, we have Veaam Smart Plugin.

How has Middle East been for Veeam?
We are proud to say that we have grown significantly over the last few years. We started with one person in June 2011, and today we have grown to a 20-people organisation in the Middle East. We have partnered with Ingram Micro for the Middle East region.

Which markets in the Middle East are your focusing on?
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and UAE are one of the biggest markets for us in the Middle East. In fact, in some time, Saudi market will over take UAE to become the biggest markets for us. Kuwait is a big market for us, too, but it has been slow as far as business is concerned. We also target markets such as Palestine, Jordan, and Lebanon.

What sort of trends do you see for data protection, backup and recovery solutions in the region?
Data protection for Veeam revolves around virtualization. Banks, oil and gas companies, universities, and so on, depend on our products for data protection. Usually what we have seen on the market that companies use traditional tools for physical storage and Veeam solutions for virtualization.

They see so much value in adopting Veeam for virtualisation that they usually tend to adopt a dual window strategy when it comes to data protection.

What challenges do companies face in this region, when it comes to data protection?
There are two biggest challenges for companies in this region, when it comes to data protection – the extent of data recovery in case of disasters and the time taken to recover the data.

Backup is any company’s insurance policy – it is your final port of call. When the world falls apart, due to fire, flood and so on, you will be lucky and can get up on your feet, if you got your data backup. A way we differentiate ourselves from the competition is that we guarantee 100% data recovery.

According to Gartner, using legacy tools, it takes around 6 hours to recover data. With Veeam, it takes just 5 minutes to recover data. Hence companies prefer to use Veeam for their data protection strategy.
