With countries across the region ramping up investments in ICT infrastructure, Huawei—a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider—has announced a full lineup of new solution debuts at this year’s GITEX Technology Week as the company looks to meet the needs of an increasingly digital society through its extended portfolio of end-to-end ICT offerings.
Visitors will have the chance to touch and experience Huawei technologies for themselves in real-case environments along with lively hot topic sessions that will address the most talked tech trends in the industry, including the first-ever Big Data Conference being held at GITEX.
“The next wave of digital society will see the rise of a new kind of intelligence; a connected and shared wisdom that extends far beyond the technology sector to businesses, governments and communities worldwide,” comments Shi Yaohong, President of Huawei Middle East. “This digital society brings with it enormous opportunities while also presenting new challenges. Considering the extraordinary investments being made in infrastructure within many emerging markets across the region, forums such as GITEX Technology Week are essential in accelerating open and constructive collaborations with stakeholders in many diverse industries. Huawei firmly believes that this kind of open cooperation is central to the region’s wider social and economic advancement, with technology ultimately serving as a means for enhancing business operations and inspiring human potential.”
With solutions spanning across the company’s Carrier, Enterprise and Consumer Business Groups, at this year’s GITEX Huawei has revealed a heightened emphasis on its latest Enterprise offerings catered to sectors such as government, healthcare, education, oil & gas, power, transportation and more.
That emphasis will include Huawei unveiling a number of product innovations seen for the first time in the region. Amongst the lineup will be the company’s latest Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) solutions, a next generation videoconferencing system ideal for local SMEs, an expanded series of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) switching technology, and even better high-end storage technology than before. Huawei will further bring to light a host of new case studies on recently deployed enterprise ICT platforms such as its E-classroom, Cloud Virtual Desktop, and Safe City solutions.
“Today ICT does not only serve as a service-support system for enterprises; it has become an indication of core competitiveness,” comments Mr. Dong Wu, Vice President of Huawei Enterprise Middle East. “In this context, organizations are keen to see today’s technology solutions in action. This is particularly true in the ICT market as organizations look to embrace transformations such as cloud computing, BYOD, smart cities and so forth. It is paramount for vendors like Huawei to showcase tangible examples of how today’s ICT innovations can enable end-users—with the support of our partners—to centralize operations, increase productivity and reduce the complexity of their infrastructure.”
In addition to its Enterprise offerings, Huawei’s heritage in the telecommunications market will also feature prominently at GITEX and the co-located GSMA Mobile 360 Middle East event as the group aims to help bridge the digital divide across the Middle East. With several keynote sessions on the future of the mobile broadband ecosystem, Huawei’s Carrier Business Group will also demonstrate how regional operators can advance their mobile broadband network capabilities through Huawei’s SoftMobile solution; supporting on-demand networks capable of innovative services delivery, network resources orchestration, and enhanced broadband capacity.
This year’s GITEX stage will further be shared with Huawei’s Consumer Business Group which will be demoing many of its latest handset and Wi-Fi devices, as well as running exceptional bundle offers through key retailers during the GITEX Shopper and GITEX Technology Week. Amongst the devices on show will be the recently launched Huawei Ascend P6, the slimmest smartphone in the world, which has seen a broad welcome by consumers in the region and has just been unveiled in a stunning “Pink” version. Additional Huawei devices such as the Ascend Mate, the world’s biggest smartphone, and the Ascend P2, the world’s fastest LTE smartphone, will also feature at this year’s GITEX.
Over the past year Huawei has achieved robust growth in the Middle East through new partnerships as well as a diversification of its solutions portfolio. Within the enterprise market, Huawei has rapidly emerged as a partner of choice for customers in a wide range of verticals. Alongside numerous project deployments and new solution launches, the company has received distinctions such as ‘Best Vendor of the Year in the Channel’ at the Channel Middle East Awards 2013 as well as receiving a ‘Middle East Product Innovation Award’ by Frost & Sullivan for its achievements in the Middle East network security market.
In the telecommunications field, Huawei has continued to work with leading operators across the Middle East to set regional “firsts” such as the deployment of the world’s first commercial 400G IP Core Network in cooperation with Mobily, and the first successful testing of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) with Etisalat
It was also a stellar year for Huawei’s consumer business group, standing today as one of the world’s top-five global smartphone vendors and having cemented a host of new retail & service partnerships in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman, to name a few.
Serving one third of the world’s population and 45 out of the world’s top 50 telecom operators, Huawei realized over $18.5 billion in global revenues during the first half of this year—an increase of 10.8% over the same period in 2012—with the brand focused on increasing its year-on-year revenues by 10% over the course of 2013.
