Jumbo and Simmtronics form strategic alliance on tablet PC business

Global consumer electronics leader Simmtronics has appointed Jumbo Electronics as its channel distributor for tablet PCs in the GCC. The distribution agreement was signed in Dubai by Ravi Rao, Assistant Vice President of Jumbo, and Indrajit Sabharwal, Managing Director, Simmtronics.

The deal further reinforces Simmtronics’ leading position in the world tablet business. Globally, Simmtronics is acknowledged as the third leading tablet manufacturer and is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to some of the top names of the industry, including HP, IBM, LG Electronics, Samsung, Acer, PCS and Zenith. The company has five manufacturing facilities worldwide and offices in more than 14 countries.

Jumbo Electronics brings to the partnership its strength as UAE’s leading distributor and retailer for IT & consumer electronics. Since its inception, Jumbo has been the exclusive distributor of Sony in the UAE. Jumbo is also a trusted distribution and retail partner for many of the world’s other leading brands, including Acer, Apple, Asus, Blackberry, Brother, Casio, Compaq, Dell, Dyson, Epson, Gorenje, HP, HTC, Lenovo, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Packard-Bell, Samsung, Sony-Ericsson, Toshiba, and VAIO.

The XPad comes in 7”, 8”, 9”, 9.7” and 10” versions and incorporates both calling function as well as high-definition displays on its robust Android ICS4.0 operating system. The tablet offers maximum connectivity to the Internet, printers, high density TVs, or any number of external devices for easy and reliable on-the-go access to email, movies, videos, music and photos.
