
Hewlett-Packard has agreed to buy UK based leading Enterprise Information Management Software Company Autonomy Corporation for $10.3 billion and with this acquisition HP will be able to further expand its offerings in the enterprise information software.
Autonomy’s IDOL platform combined with HP’s strength in enterprise software, services and infrastructure will enable the combined business to deliver a next-generation information platform, analytical applications and performance optimisation solutions.
Autonomy also brings along a strong cloud based solutions to table for HP and is a significant cloud player with over 30 petabytes of customer information under management which would compliment efforts of HP in the cloud space.
HP expects with the new product mix it would be better placed in software and information to create the next-generation Information Platform.

Autonomy brings to HP higher value business solutions that will help customers manage the explosion of information.
