Sandisk grabs Saudi market

Sandisk, grew its business significantly in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as its unit sales witnessed a growth of 38% last year, whereas the first quarter of 2011 saw Sandisk unit exploded by 509 percent as compared to the first quater of year 2010.

Sandisk MEA reinforced its commitment to the kingdom with the appointment of Binoi Verghese as the National Account Manager in Saudi Arabia and increased its focus to bolster SanDisk’s retail presence by working closely with its distributor Ahmed Abdulwahed Trading Company.

“As the largest market in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, we have intensified our presence and market development efforts in Saudi Arabia over the past few years, and are now starting to reap the benefits of growth in the market. Our partnership with Ahmed Abdulwahed Trading and their extensive retail and dealer network has increased our product footprint across the country.” said Tareq Husseini, Sales Director, Sandisk MEA.

According to an recent report, Saudi Arabia’s consumer electronics market is forecast to grow to SAR15 billion (US$4 billion) in 2011 and SAR18.37 billion by 2015.

“Demand for consumer electronics goods in the Kingdom is growing significantly and Sandisk’s innovative product range fits well to meet that demand. Strong growth in the consumer electronics sector coupled with our strong and established presence in the Kingdom, will drive Sandisk’s brand in the market,” said Yaser Ahmed Abdulwahed Anam, Director of Sales and Marketing, Ahmed Abdulwahed.

The Sandisk product portfolio includes flash memory cards for mobile phones, digital cameras and camcorders; digital audio/video players; USB flash drives for consumers and solid state drives for computers.
