CPE710 Application Scenario

With high transmission power and antenna gain, CPE710 is perfect for long-distance wireless connections. The communication distance commonly ranges from several kilometers to dozens of kilometers. You can use CPE710 in diversified network environments. This article introduces two common application scenarios, including Point to Point (PtP) and Point to Multi-Point (PtMP).

• Point to Point (PtP)

In a PtP application, a pair of CPE710s are implemented at two isolated sites, which can be separated by rivers, hills, and roads. As shown in the following figure, CPE710s set up a wireless PtP link, which functions as a very long and invisible cable, to join the separate wired networks of each site together. It simplifies network deployment because you don’t need long-distance cabling anymore.

Point to Multipoint (PtMP)

In a PtMP application, multiple sites connect wirelessly to a remote central station. As shown in the following figure, a base station combined with a sector antenna is implemented as the access point at the central station, and several CPEs—like CPE710—serve as clients at multiple sites.

What Makes CPE710 Faster?
802.11ac Wi-Fi technology considerably increases the wireless data rate of CPE710, which transmits at 867 Mbps, nearly tripling the 300 Mbps rate of its predecessor. In a nutshell, the new 802.11ac Wi-Fi truly combines the flexibility of wireless networks with the capabilities of Gigabit Ethernet.

• 80 MHz Channel Bandwidth
More channel bandwidth means higher speeds. With 802.11ac, CPE710 extends its channel bandwidth to 80 MHz compared to 40 MHz of the previous 802.11n Wi-Fi technology. This ultimately increases transmission speeds by nearly 117%.

• 256-QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation)
CPE710 with 802.11ac implements denser modulation technology and packs more data in the signal. With 256-QAM (up from 64-QAM in 802.11n), each symbol carries 8 bits (rather than 6 bits in 802.11n), resulting in a 33% speed burst.

• 2×2 MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output)
As a 2×2 MIMO device, CPE710 is capable of transmitting and receiving via two spatial streams, doubling the common data rate of a single stream.

• 5 GHz: More Channels and Less Interference
These days, too many wireless devices occupy the 2.4 GHz band, which means they are more likely to interfere with one another. Compared with the 2.4 GHz band, the 5 GHz band is less crowded and enjoys more channels. CPE710 operates on the 5 GHz band. As a result, CPE710 is more dedicated to transmissions with high efficiency.
